For me, I accomplished everything I could have ever wanted from this iteration of this piece. I told a story on stage, and most importably, I evoked thought and emotion. At the end of Endings, I had a handful of people approach me looking to have further conversation about my work - telling me their ideas of the piece and asking for my side of the story. One asked: "Why didn't you have all of the information you're sharing with me in the program notes?" And the answer was simple: "Because if I had you wouldn't have this response, you would have my response, and that isn't what I'm interested in."
When I make dance, it's two fold: one it's for me to share my view on a topic, and two for you, as the audience, to form your view on something, ANYTHING, whatever you may gain from my piece. I do not design my dances to be straight forward, spoon fed works, I want you to think, I want you to have your own image and idea and from there we can work towards a goal.
It is universal in that anyone can feel anything from what they see.
